La Iglesia Gracia de Dios Hispana surgió del corazón de Dios. Por el año 1991 yo que soy Cristiano y Nazareno desde los 6 anos de edad, recibí en las calles de Toronto un tratadito por la Hermana Angelita Ruiz, el cual llevaba el sello y dirección de la Iglesia Hispana Nazarena en Sheppard Ave West con el pastor Rafael Moreno. Soy Médico de profesión yo estaba para entrar a estudiar Medicina Atómica aquí en Toronto y luego mi deseo era regresar a ejercer a mi país Guatemala.
Con el recordatorio de mis raíces espirituales en mención por medio del tratadito, comencé a sentir una fuerte impactacion a mi espíritu de que en lugar de estudiar medicina atómica yo debería estudiar la Palabra de Dios y servirle como Pastor, cosa que yo siempre rechace en el pasado. Tratando de obedecer pero no totalmente convencido saqué un año de entrenamiento laico. Cuando terminé, el Señor me hizo sentir que eso no era lo que el quería de mi, y que por propósito me había traído a Canada y había permitido que me sucediera una serie de acontecimientos no muy plausibles ni placenteros, porque yo me resistia a su voluntad. Tratando de enmendar la situación, entré a estudiar el Pastoreado en el Instituto Bíblico de Toronto, una extensión de Colorado Springs. Luego obtuve una maestría teológica en Canada Christian College y complete el curricullum para doctorado en Consejería.

Mientras eso sucedía, Dios abrió la oportunidad de comenzar la obra Hispana en "Grace Church of the Nazarene", resultado del ministerio de Marjorie Osborne una sierva con amor a la obra de Dios en Toronto. El Pastor Onésimo Pot inicialmente iba a comenzar esa obra, pero eventualmente Kennedy Road lo necesitaba y fue así como hermana Angélica Receno y yo comenzamos la obra Hispana "Gracia de Dios".

El Pastor Frank Klassen de Grace Church al comienzo nos ayudó mucho. El Reverendo Ronald Fry ha sido de mucha bendición. Hermanos que conformaron los inicios fueron La Familia Artero, Chuluc, Castellanos, Sureya y Romel. Después las Familias Rivera, Miguel A. Orellana y luego Iduvina, Roberto y Ana Villatoro, Barrera, Miños, Rodriguez, Ovalle, González, Carrillo, Chacon, López, Teso, Martínez, Morales, Cañas, Corado, Carrillo, Sánchez, Pacheco, y muchos otros mas.

Una noche muy memorable, cuando Dios puso en el corazon de mi Esposa Gena y yo el orar é imponer manos sobre las sienes de los Jóvenes Johnny, Elmer, Georgina, Dámaris, Ivonne, Moadir Lanes, Odir, Jaime, David, Wilfredo, Tania, Karen, Aby, Alondra. Dios hizo algo maravilloso, los llenó con su Santo Espíritu, su actitud fue la de consagracion y santificación. Tenian los rostros encendidos y una nueva actitud muy positiva de servicio, adoracion y evangelismo. Nos gozabamos escuchando sus testimonios y la manera tan especial como Dios los ministró.

Eventos importantes: Dios me bendijo mucho cuando me casé con Gena Byers, una sierva consagrada a Dios. La Iglesia Gracia de Dios y Sharing Place trabajamos mancomunadamente palmo a palmo. Dios me permitió ser Chaplan de ese Ministerio y yo le dediqué mi amor y trabajo.

Con el Hermano Corado estuvimos produciendo los programas radiales Nazarenos que pasábamos en la Radio Cristiana 1320 AM. Con Hermano Elmer Zoto editamos el periódico El Impacto con la intención de Evangelizar a Toronto. Con Hermano Dio comenzamos el Boletín semanal, la escuela del discipulado, se instaló la página web y se ha mejorado últimamente con Hno. Constantino quien también es Director de los cursos de computadoras, una bendición.
Dios ha continuado enviando buenos siervos y siervas, Dios los bendiga, seria prolijo escribir todos los nombres, pero Dios los conoce a todos, aprecia y los recompensará plenamente. La Iglesia tiene columnas fuertes como son los Diáconos, los Ujieres, Los Maestros, Evangelistas, Visitadores, Intercesores en oración, Ministración. Hay otros trabajos meniales pero de gran importancia como el transporte, limpieza, comida, etc. Etc Todos son muy valiosos, mi esposa y yo los amamos y pedimos a Dios que los bendiga.

Nuestro compromiso es Predicar y Enseñar el Reino de Cristo, en tiempo y fuera de tiempo, con paciencia exhortar, reprender, redargüir. Activamente nos involucramos en la formacion del liderazgo, tratando de formar el carácter de Cristo en ellos, tenemos la fe que en un cercano futuro ellos seran punta de lanza en la meta de alcanzar las multitudes de almas.

La prueba mas reciente en esta carrera emocionante de servir a Dios, fue un cáncer maligno de muy mal pronóstico. Dios me ha asegurado que me ha extendido la vida para que le sirva en su plan de cosecha de almas, así que lo hago con devoción, amor y gratitud sabiendo que yo me debo todo y completo a El. ¡Felices recuerdos de aniverio Iglesia "Gracia de Dios"!

The people that I remember are the Arteros and sister Angélica Receno who was the first person to come along side the pastor. At the start of the church they were meeting in a very small room at 624 Annette, in fact when we grew to about 30 people the room was out grown already.

This Spanish church of the Nazarene was part of a project called Target Toronto an out reach initiated by Marjorie Osborn of the church of the Nazarene to plant several ethnic churches and at the same time to start the food and clothing bank "The Sharing Place" to provide for refugees coming into Canada. Originally pastor Onesimo Pot was going to take the Spanish work, but at the same time an English church became available so he took the English and pastor Octavio took the Spanish. I believe since the inception of the church it has always been a family type meeting place were people come together and really have love for each other and care for each other it is more like a family. Its place were individual can come if they are new to the city and they don't have any one they can come to the church and find that they have a good support group. We like to fellowship together we like to eat together, at Christmas we are always together and at New Years we are always together as a family.

Some of the obstacles have been the financial problems not so much a problem as that always in ministry there isn't enough money, as you like to have. There are other programs that we would like to be doing and because of finances we are not able to do them. We are very happy to be in the present building we have shared with other congregations who have not have the same vision as us, they have very rigged programs were the service starts at 12 and end at 1:00 we are a congregation that like the flow of the Holy Spirit and to have lot of testimonies a lot of participation in the services so that has caused us to move on a couple of occasions, but every time we have moved we find that the blessings of the Lord have waited for us in the new location.

There have been some who have left the church for a couple of reasons I think every one brings a part of them and adds to the life of the church. Many people who are not coming here are still calling to ask for prayer at times and let us know how they are doing. So we just want to be a blessing to others and we want to use the gifts and talents that God sends into the church some times that is just for a season, and we know that we have to except that also.
I'm happy that we are having computer classes for the people. Many of our people are talented. I think coming to a new country and making a new start having to learn the language has been a challenge for them. In many cases they are in the position were they are not making their potential because they do not have the skills and I thing that we are going to see the people promoted or find new positions through taking the computer classes. And I think it's going to make us, as a community feels better about Ourselves. I believe the on going training of the cells are from the Lord that this was the book of Acts that people have to realize that we have to let the Holy Spirit to do the work and we just surrender and obey doing what He commands instead of we by ourselves doing what we feel we should.

I feel a great future for the church I believe God has given us promises I find that some people are very excited and have caught the vision and they see what God wants to do here and I think that once we all catch on to the vision and realize such an important roll that each one has to play, because I believe that God has put each person here according to his plan and purpose I believe that each person here is capable of doing far more then they are doing by the spirit, because I believe that each person here is Holy Spirit filled and that the Lord really wants to work through them and I believe we have had some growth, in the past year we have had many miracles, people finding family members that they haven't seen for ten years and many healings. All this things help to make the ministry of Jesus very exciting one.
